Bridges is here… for you!

Bridges is a special project which is funded by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development / Residents Opportunity for Self-Sufficiency (HUD-ROSS).  This project brings the professional skills of a Service Coordinator to assist persons with disabilities and the elderly who live in the Edison Township Public Housing Authorities.

For residents who experience the isolation of living alone or are hampered by disability or infirmity, Bridges' Service Coordinator provide invaluable services which help eligible residents maintain successful independent living.  Services may vary from a personal check-in visit to intensive case management in order to overcome challenges which threaten independence.

By harnessing community resources, the Service Coordinator encourage residents to access pathways to recreational and educational opportunities, independence and full inclusion within their communities.  Residents with disabilities and the elderly are supported to age in place with dignity and comfort.

The Bridges Project:

  • Offers practical help with accessing medical and mental health services
  • Assists persons with disabilities and senior citizens in navigating community resources such as education and social services as well as recreational and enrichment opportunities which help to facilitate successful independent living
  • Provides comprehensive social services at no cost to the residents

Referrals to NJID's Service Coordinators can come from a variety of sources including the management of each respective housing authority.
