Communication is vital for personal independence and when supports are required the Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology Center at the Lakeview School is ready to assist!

Leading-edge communication devices are put to use at the Center to help students overcome challenges associated with speech and language deficits.

Established in 1982 as the first of its kind in New Jersey, the Center provides expert assessment as well as assistance and guidance in navigating third party payment systems, such as medical insurances and government benefits.

Augmentative Communication Equipment Lending Program

The first of its kind in New Jersey! This program provides opportunities to borrow a wide variety of communication systems.

Augmentative Communication and Assistive Technology Specialists Hold:

  • American Speech-Language & Hearing Association Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech and Language Pathology
  • Advanced certification through Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America as Assistive Technology Professionals (ATP)
  • NJ State Licensure in Speech Language Pathologist
  • NJ Department of Education Certifications as Speech and Language Specialists
